New Client Highlight: Weldon Mills Distillery
There are some clients that immediately feel like more than just a project—and Weldon Mills Distillery is one of them.
Rooted in history, driven by craftsmanship, and built with a vision far beyond the bottle, Weldon Mills is redefining what a distillery experience can be in North Carolina. I’m excited to officially welcome them as a new client of The Social Handle.
A Distillery with a Story (and a Setting to Match)
Located along the Roanoke River in Weldon, North Carolina, this isn’t your typical distillery. The experience begins in a restored, historic mill house—before guests are transported to the distillery for tours and tastings. From the moment you arrive, it feels intentional. Slower. More immersive.
This is where history, craftsmanship, and Southern hospitality come together.
Two Locations. One Elevated Experience.
Weldon Mills has expanded beyond its original home to include a second location in downtown Durham:
Weldon, NC: The heart of the brand—home to the distillery, mill house, tours, tastings, and events
Durham, NC: A modern distillery lounge serving craft cocktails in a vibrant, social setting
Together, these locations create something powerful: A brand that honors tradition while creating new, memorable experiences for today’s audience.
More Than a Distillery—A Destination Worth the Drive
This is where our work comes in. We’re not just marketing Weldon Mills as a place to stop—we’re positioning it as a destination and experience worth the drive.
A place you plan for.
A place you stay awhile.
A place that becomes part of your weekend, not just a quick visit.
Whether you’re traveling from Raleigh, Durham, or beyond, Weldon Mills offers something you can’t replicate anywhere else. A unique blend of history, craftsmanship, atmosphere, and connection. And that’s exactly the story we’re here to tell.
The Power of Authentic Storytelling
At the core of our strategy is something simple—but often overlooked:
Social media isn’t about perfectly curated content. It’s about authentic storytelling.
And at Weldon Mills, the story starts with the people behind it. From the team leading tastings, to the hands crafting each bottle, to the personalities that bring the space to life—these are the voices that make the brand feel real, approachable, and memorable. We’re leaning into that.
Because the Weldon Mills team are the brand—and in many ways, they’re already organic influencers. People connect with people, not just products.
Our approach is to highlight:
The faces behind the experience
The day-to-day moments that guests don’t usually see
The passion, pride, and personality that live inside the brand
That’s where connection happens. And that’s what turns a visit into something people want to share.
Award-Winning Bourbon, Built on Craftsmanship
Weldon Mills isn’t just about the experience—it’s backed by serious credibility.Recognized as one of the most awarded small-batch distilleries in the country, their bourbons have earned national attention and top honors in major competitions. Each bottle is crafted with precision and care, reflecting a commitment to quality in every pour.
This is a brand that doesn’t cut corners—and it shows.
Why This Partnership Matters
At The Social Handle, I don’t just work with businesses—I work with brands that are building something meaningful.
Weldon Mills isn’t just selling bourbon. They’re creating a destination. An experience. A story people want to be part of.
From content strategy and storytelling to social media and brand positioning, our goal is to:
Elevate their presence across digital platforms
Highlight the full experience—not just the product
Position Weldon Mills as a must-visit destination in North Carolina
Tell real stories through the people behind the brand
Because when the story is this strong—it deserves to be told the right way.
A Full Circle Moment
In many ways, this partnership feels like it’s come full circle . Back in 2019, we met with Bruce Tyler to explore the possibility of having our wedding at Weldon Mills—before COVID changed those plans. Even then, I remember being drawn to the beauty of the building and the soul that still lives within it.
This space has a story—and you can feel it the moment you walk in. And what makes it even more special is that the story is still being written. Bruce has done a phenomenal job restoring and preserving that history while creating something new for people to experience and enjoy.
And now, years later, being part of helping tell that story feels incredibly meaningful.
What’s Next
This is just the beginning. From behind-the-scenes content and event promotion to storytelling that captures the heart of the brand, we’re building a strategy that reflects everything Weldon Mills already is—and everything it’s becoming. If you haven’t experienced it yet, add it to your list.
And if you’re watching from the outside—stay tuned.
