How to Add Someone to Your Facebook Business Account
Need to give an employee, social media manager, or marketing agency access to your Facebook business account? You can securely add them through Meta Business Suite without sharing your personal Facebook password.
Meta now refers to a Facebook Business account as a Business Portfolio. Follow these steps to add someone and control exactly what they can access.
Before You Begin
Make sure:
You have full control of the Business Portfolio.
You have the person’s business email address.
Your Facebook Page and other business assets are already connected to Meta Business Suite.
The person has their own Facebook account.
Two-factor authentication is enabled for added security.
How to Add Someone to Your Meta Business Portfolio
Step 1: Open Meta Business Suite
Visit Meta Business Suite on a desktop computer and log in with the Facebook account connected to your business.
Step 2: Select the Correct Business
If you manage more than one business, select the correct Business Portfolio from the dropdown menu.
Always double-check the business name before adding someone or assigning access.
Step 3: Open Business Settings
Click Settings in the lower-left corner of Meta Business Suite.
Depending on your account layout, you may see Business Settings or simply Settings.
Step 4: Select “People”
Under the Users section, click People.
This section displays everyone who currently has access to your Business Portfolio.
Step 5: Click “Invite People”
Click the Invite People button in the upper-right corner.
Enter the email address of the person you want to add.
Use the email address they regularly access so they do not miss the invitation.
Step 6: Choose the Person’s Access Level
Meta will ask you to select the type of access the person should receive.
You may see options such as:
Partial access: The person can work only on the business assets and tasks you assign.
Full control: The person can manage business settings, assets, permissions and other people.
For most employees, contractors and social media managers, partial access is the safest choice.
Only give someone full control if they are a trusted owner or administrator who needs to manage the entire Business Portfolio.
Step 7: Assign Business Assets
Select the assets the person needs to manage. These may include:
Facebook Pages
Instagram accounts
Ad accounts
Pixels or datasets
Catalogs
Apps
Business asset groups
You do not need to give someone access to every asset in the account.
Step 8: Choose Their Permissions
For each selected asset, choose the specific tasks the person can perform.
Facebook Page permissions may include:
Creating, scheduling and managing content
Responding to messages and comments
Managing community activity
Viewing insights and performance data
Creating and managing ads
Managing settings and permissions
If you are adding a social media manager, they will typically need access to content, messages, community activity, insights and advertising. Their exact access will depend on the services they provide.
Step 9: Review and Send the Invitation
Carefully review the person’s assigned assets and permissions.
Once everything is correct, click Invite or Send Invitation.
Meta will email the person an invitation to join the Business Portfolio.
Step 10: Have the Person Accept the Invitation
The person must open the email from Meta and follow the instructions to accept the invitation.
Their access will remain pending until they complete this step. Meta’s official instructions confirm that Business Portfolio owners can invite people and then assign the business assets they need to manage. View Meta’s instructions.
How to Check Whether They Accepted the Invitation
Return to:
Meta Business Suite → Settings → People
The person’s status should show whether the invitation is pending or accepted.
If the invitation is still pending:
Confirm that you entered the correct email address.
Ask the person to check their spam or junk folder.
Resend the invitation if that option is available.
Cancel the pending invitation and send a new one if necessary.
How to Add Someone to an Existing Facebook Page
If the person is already part of your Business Portfolio but does not have access to your Facebook Page:
Open Meta Business Suite.
Click Settings.
Select People under Users.
Click the person’s name.
Select Assign assets.
Choose Facebook Pages.
Select the appropriate Page.
Choose the permissions they need.
Click Save changes.
You can also go to Settings → Accounts → Pages, select the Page and click Assign people.
Meta provides additional Page-access instructions here.
Adding a Marketing Agency or Business Partner
If you are working with a marketing agency, the agency may ask you to add its Business Portfolio as a partner instead of adding individual team members.
To add a partner:
Open Meta Business Suite.
Go to Settings.
Select Partners under Users.
Click Add.
Choose the option to give a partner access to your assets.
Enter the agency’s Business Portfolio ID.
Select the assets and permissions the agency needs.
Review the access and save your changes.
Adding an agency as a partner allows the agency to manage its own team members without requiring you to add each person individually.
Review Meta’s partner-access instructions.
Important Security Tips
Never share your personal Facebook password.
Give each person their own individual access.
Grant only the permissions they need.
Reserve full control for trusted owners and administrators.
Require two-factor authentication for everyone in the Business Portfolio.
Review the People and Partners sections regularly.
Remove access immediately when an employee, contractor or agency stops working with your business.
Keep at least two trusted business administrators on the account in case one person loses access.
Meta allows businesses to require two-factor authentication from Settings → Business Portfolio Info → Business Options.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to share my Facebook password?
No. Never share your personal Facebook login information. Every person should use their own account and receive access through Meta Business Suite.
Will they be able to see my personal Facebook profile?
No. Giving someone access to a Business Portfolio or Facebook Page does not give them access to your private messages, personal posts or personal account settings.
Should I give my social media manager full control?
Usually, no. Most social media managers only need partial access to the Page, Instagram account and ad account. Full control should be limited to trusted business owners or senior administrators.
Can I remove someone later?
Yes. Go to Settings → People, select the person and remove their access. You can also change their assigned assets or permissions without removing them completely.
Why can’t I invite someone?
You may not have full control of the Business Portfolio. You may also be working inside the wrong business, or the person may already have a pending invitation.
Final Reminder
Meta updates its menus and terminology periodically, so the wording on your screen may look slightly different. The general process remains the same:
Open Meta Business Suite → Go to Settings → Select People → Invite the person → Assign assets → Choose permissions → Send the invitation.
Adding users through Meta Business Suite keeps your business account more organized and secure while ensuring everyone has the access they need—without sharing passwords.
